How did you get into wellness, both personally and professionally?
I had a sport-related back injury in college that caused me to visit a chiropractor, and it changed my life. I transitioned from being interested in an engineering career path to wanting to get into the health and wellness industry. I didn't immediately choose chiropractic but that is where I landed and it was exactly what I wanted and needed to be doing.
What attracted you to chiropractic care?
My father reminded me that going to the chiropractor was the main reason that I had overcome some injuries when I was younger and in college. So, once I started to look at that as an option for my own career, I realized that I would be able to help people overcome the same kinds of things that I had and plenty more. I had a deep interest in body mechanics and movement, which are the basics of chiropractic. Without proper movement, the body starts to break down, and this is what leads to a decreased quality of life. So, in the long run, the ability to positively impact someone's quality of life was the greatest attractor towards chiropractic care!
What excites you most about being part of Level?
I am most excited about being part of a team again. I was working for myself and by myself for almost two years and it started to feel really draining. I am a highly extroverted person and love being in community. I am excited to work collaboratively with other professionals to provide the care people deserve.
What misconceptions about wellness do you wish people understood?
Wellness shouldn't be an afterthought. Many people wait until they have symptoms and sometimes that is too late. Your body was designed to thrive in this world. It was not designed to break down and wither away. The great news is that it doesn’t take a lot of work if you can just start and be consistent with the choices that you make.
